'What does your cat do to motivate you when you’re dragging your feet to feed them?': Cat Parents Share Hissterical Anecdotes

Hey, cat lovers! For anyone who has ever had or lived with a cat, you probably know that when cats get hungry, things can get ugly, fast. When I got my first cat, I would often get woken up around 6 am every day to my little tuxedo baby, Sushi, swatting my face and meowing like crazy to get me to get my booty up out of the bed and feed him. He would sit on my chest and take a swat at my face every ten seconds or so until he got his way. 

Shockingly enough, I am not the only one to have experienced such a rude awakening in an attempt by my cat to get himself food. In reality, just about every cat owner has a hissterical anecdote to share about their cats' desperate pleas for food. Let's get into it!

    My eldest cat isn't the worst but he will stare a stare that will wake me from its intensity. I will lift my head just to see his hangry lil smoosh face because / can feel his eyes on me as I sleep.

    My second is very anxious about food because as a foster he was neglected. She left him alone in her studio apartment for long stretches and free fed him. I think in that time he was constantly alone, he developed an unhealthy relationship with food. He was roughly the size of an adult raccoon when I first got him. Anyway, he not only jumps on my chest, but he chews anything plastic that makes a rustling noise. If that doesn't work, he knows which of my plants are my favorites and he starts jump

If they really want food, that chonky one will come over loud purring, rubs, cuddles, kneeding - the whole 9 yards for up to 20 minutes. Just really butter me up. You can even hold her like a baby.

She had zero interest in eating the plant, she only did it to get my attention. Since then I've taught her to wake me up with little kisses, but the holes in the leaves still remain ...

When she decides it's time, she'll sit across the room and just look at me squinty. The cat equivalent of big brown puppy dog eyes you can't say no to. She can defy all laws of gravity and cause herself to weigh 4*s her usual weight and then she walks on top of me back and forth slowly until I get up to feed her → Technically I think she's not defying gravity but she has learned to put all her weight on one paw at a time so she feels heavier. She doesn't walk on me with her heavyweight powers at night it's only activated when she's hungry.

    pnw-worms 16h ago Aside from the typical "meow a lot", my guy has a special strategy. He starts chewing on whatever non- food item is most conveniently nearby. (usually something crunchy and loud; plastic, cardboard box, etc). Then he looks at you like, "see how i must fend for myself in this cruel uncaring world??" We've slightly cut down his portions for weight loss and he's become a full- fledged actor. Silly bab.
